Indeed, it is believed that Tottenham are now in advanced talks to tie down the Englishman, with a new contract ‘incoming’, news which comes as a ‘big boost’ for the player and Antonio Conte.
Spurs chiefs Fabio Paratici and chairman Daniel Levy also made the decision to extend goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ deal earlier this season, and as per news from the club, some more contract updates have now come to light.
The Latest: Tottenham extend Fagan-Walcott deal…
As officially confirmed by the club on Thursday, Tottenham have agreed a new deal for defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott, with the teenager putting pen to paper on an extension until 2023.
The centre-back, who has shone as part of the under-23 side, made his senior debut under ex-manager Jose Mourinho against RB Leipzig in the Champions League two years ago. He was also named on the bench for two Europa Conference League conference games earlier this season.
The Verdict: Breakthrough incoming?
Fagan-Walcott is another starlet turning heads at N17 and has been for quite a while, according to reliable reports. The Athletic claimed last year that Mourinho is personally a big fan of the 19-year-old, with Jack Pitt-Brooke stating that he was ‘popular’ with the former Chelsea boss.
Meanwhile, as shared by Spurs source John Wenham, who spoke with club favourite Ledley King, the ex-Lilywhites centre-back ‘really rates’ Fagan-Walcott, as do many within Tottenham (Football Insider).
Taking this into account, and with him now been handed fresh terms, it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see him feature in Conte’s main Premier League squads soon.
