The 27-year-old scored the third goal in the Manchester derby to become the clubs all-time leading goal scorer. Jess Park had previously handed City a 2-0 lead in the first half and would go on to assist Shaw for the record-breaking goal in the 46th minute.

Shaw went level with Lionesses star Georgia Stanway following her goal in the 4-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend – but has now pushed ahead in the goal-scoring charts. Shaw now has 17 goals and three assists to her name across the 2023-24 Women's Super League campaign.

While the personal accolade is nice, Shaw will now be fully focused on securing the WSL title with City this season. Gareth Taylor's side are currently sitting pretty at the top of the table on 43 points, although Chelsea could draw level with a win against West Ham on Sunday.
